Приватизация
Продажа государственной собственности в национализированных отраслях промышленности частным инвесторам при частичном сохранении или полном устранении контроля государства за этими предприятиями. Сторонники приватизации полагают, что свободная конкуренция будет способствовать более эффективному распределению ресурсов и более полному удовлетворению потребностей потребителей по сравнению с бюрократической монополией государства (см. Price system). В восьмидесятые годы была проведена широкомасштабная приватизация в Великобритании консервативным правительством Маргарет Тэтчер. В ходе этой приватизации были денационализированы такие крупные компании, как «Джегьюа Карз», «Бритиш Гэз», «Бритиш Телеком», «Бритиш Эрвейс» и др. Во Франции в 1986 г. были приватизированы десятки государственных банков, страховых компаний и промышленных предприятий. Подобный процесс происходил также во многих других странах мира. Программы приватизации, однако, не принесли желаемого успеха. Во многих случаях они не способствовали оживлению конкуренции, поскольку бывшие государственные монополии превратились в частные вместо того, чтобы разделиться на несколько конкурирующих компаний. Кроме того, активы некоторых компаний реализовывались по цене, которая была ниже рыночных цен, что означало уменьшение поступлений от продажи в госбюджет. См. также Deregulation.
